Finance minister to attend ADB meeting
SEOUL, April 30 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's Finance Minister Yoon Jeung-hyun will leave for Indonesia on Friday to participate in the 42nd Annual Meeting of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), officials said Thursday.
During the gathering to be held in Bali on Monday and Tuesday, the nation's top
economic policymaker is to deliver a keynote speech to emphasize the importance
of cooperation among Asian countries in response to a global economic crisis,
according to the Ministry of Strategy and Finance.
Ahead of the meeting, Yoon is to attend the finance minister's conference of the
Associations of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), and South Korea, Japan and China
or the so-called "ASEAN plus three" meeting to be held there on Sunday.
ASEAN consists of Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the
Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
Yoon will hold discussions with the participants on ways to bolster regional bond
markets and increase cooperation to stem the financial crisis, the ministry said.
