S. Korean builders propose 12 tln won railway project
SEOUL, April 30 (Yonhap) -- A consortium of 10 South Korean builders said
Thursday it has proposed to the government a 12 trillion won (US$9.1 billion)
project to build four underground commuter express train lines linking the wider
Seoul metropolitan area with the central part of the capital.
If the government accepts the proposal, the consortium will break ground for
construction of the commuter express train lines in 2011 and conduct test runs
of the railway lines in 2016, it said.
The commuter express train lines spanning 160km will be built under ground and
have 27 stations, the consortium said.
The consortium consists of Hyundai Development Co., Kumho Industrial Co, Daelim
Industrial Co., Daewoo Engineering & Construction Co., Lotte Construction &
Engineering Co., Samsung C&T Corp., POSCO Engineering & Construction Co.,
Hyundai Engineering & Construction Co., GS Engineering & Construction Co. and SK
Engineering & Construction Co.
