S. Korean vice foreign minister to visit northern Europe
SEOUL, April 30 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's Vice Foreign Minister Kwon Jong-rak
will visit Sweden, Denmark, and Norway next week for a series of bilateral
meetings on improving relations and strengthening cooperation on global issues,
his ministry said Thursday.
The weeklong trip from Sunday comes on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of
the establishment of South Korea's diplomatic ties with the countries.
"Vice Minister Kwon plans to hold policy consultation meetings with his
counterparts there," ministry spokesman Moon Tae-young said.
To be discussed are substantial ways to bolster bilateral ties and global
concerns including the economic crisis, climate change, energy issues,
development assistance and peacekeeping operations, he added.
"Vice Minister Kwon will also ask for attention and cooperation in efforts to
resolve the North Korean nuclear issue," he said.
