S. Korean hydropower company wins deal to build dam in Nepal


SEOUL, April 30 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's state-run hydropower company said
Thursday it has secured a deal to build a 30-megawatt dam in Nepal.
The US$40 million deal to build the Chamelia dam will be financed by Seoul's
Economic Development and Cooperation Fund, the Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co.
(KHNP) said.
The Himalayan deal signed in Kathmandu calls for construction to be completed by
November 2011, with Hwacheon Plant Co. and other South Korean companies taking
part as a consortium.
The Chamelia project is KHNP's first overseas project.
