BULOG GUARANTEES RICE SUPPLIES DURING WOC
Manado, Indonesia, Apr 30 (ANTARA) - National Logistics Agency (Bulog), North Sulawesi Regional Division, guaranteed secured rice supplies during the World Ocean Conference (WOC) and Coral Triangle Initiative (CTI) Summit in Manado, North Sulawesi, May 11-15, 2009.
There will be thousands of WOC and CTI participants in Manado, prompting an anticipation of lack of rice supplies, head of the North Sulawesi Bulog office Widya said in Manado Thursday.
Some 7,200 tons of rice supplied from Pare-Pare, South Sulawesi, Selatan, have already arrived at Bitung port.
Besides there are now also 13,344 tons of rice supplied by several regions and produced by the area itself, at Bulog's storage facilities.
All these rice supplies would secure stable rice supplies in the next three months, he said.
Besides rice supplies, Bulog also hoped the rice supply availability in the region would not be turned into a political commodity merely to foil the WOC and CTI, but rather supported in the country's common interest. ***
