INDONESIA LAUNCHES SELF-MADE RADAR
Bandung, Indonesia, Apr 30 (ANTARA) - The electronic and communications research center of the Indonesian Institute of Sciences held a seminar and launched a self-made radar here on Thursday.
Cooperating with the Bandung Institute of Technology and the International Research Center for Telecommunications and Radar of the Netherlands, Indonesia had the potential to build a radar called INDERA (Indonesian radar). INDERA was the first Indonesian-built radar.
At present, INDERA is still being developed to enable it to compete with similar products of other countries.
Indonesian radar has certain uniqueness compared to the existing ones. By using a technology like frequency modulated continuous wave (FM-CW), the consumptive power and size of Indonesian radar is smaller than existing ones.
In launching the self-made radar, two radar products were already developed by this country, namely a coastal supervision radar and ship navigational radar.
Considering the importance of the role of a radar, it is necessary to make an inventory of Indonesian needs and capability to build radars to meet its own needs.***
