S. Korea reports two 'probable' cases of swine flu

SEOUL, May 1 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's health authorities on Friday reported two
new "probable" cases of swine flu, raising concerns that a person-to-person
infection has taken place in the country.

The Korea Center for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC) said that of the two
new cases, one involves a 44-year-old woman living with a person who recently
returned from a trip to Mexico, and who may be the country's first swine-flu
patient.
If the two cases are confirmed to be the variant type-A H1N1 influenza, it would
mean the country's first person-to-person swine flu transfer.
The first patient, a 51-year-old woman, has been quarantined and is receiving
treatment.
The KCDC, meanwhile, said they have found a 57-year-old male showing swine flu
symptoms, although he has no ties with the two women.
It takes up to two weeks to conduct tests to confirm if a person has contracted
the virus. Mexican and U.S. authorities have so far reported more than 150 deaths
confirmed or suspected of being caused by swine flu.
