Sana'a to hosts IORARC States FM meeting in June
SANA'A, April 30 (Saba) - It is scheduled that the meeting of
Foreign Ministers of Indian Ocean Rim Association for Regional
Cooperation (IORARC) is to be held in Sana'a late in June, the
weekly 26 September reported on Thursday.
Well-informed sources told the weekly that about 19 countries would
take part in the meeting, during which Yemen would be handed over
the presidency of the IORARC for a year.
The cabinet will discuss soon a proposal of forming a national
commit from various ministries headed by Foreign Ministry to prepare
for the coming meeting to avail the best in area of commercial and
industry cooperation and improve in-between trade among the IORARC's
member states.
On the other hand, Ministry of Industry and Trade organized here
last Wednesday a workshop on IORARC's work plan. The workshop aims
to increase Yemen's trade competitive abilities among the member
states in the association.
Minister of Industry and Trade Yahya al-Mutawakil affirmed in the
workshop that the global financial crisis and its consequences
require activating the economic coalitions, noting the importance of
such coalitions in supporting the sustainable development.
The workshop held in coordination with Foreign Ministry aims at
reviewing all aspects related to Yemen's relations with the
association' member states for expanding the commercial exchange and
economic integration and activating tourist movement and investments
between Yemen and the member States.
The Indian Ocean Rim-Association for Regional Cooperation (IORARC),
initially known as the Indian Ocean Rim Initiative, is an
international organization with 19 member states. It was first
established in Mauritius on March 1995 and formally launched on 6-7
March 1997.
