UAE EXPLORES FOOD INVESTMENT IN SOUTHEAST SULAWESI

Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi, May 2 (ANTARA) - The United Arab Emirates explored an investment opportunity in the food sector in Southeast Sulawesi.

Al Dahra Agricultural company was interested in investing in Indonesia, especially in Southeast Sulawesi, because the region was safe and fertile, Prof. Laode Masihu Kamaluddin, expert staff of the North Sulawesi Governor, said here on Saturday.

Al Dahra replaced the position of Bin Laden Group which cancelled its planned investment due to the global financial crisis, he said.

The company had sent a representative to North Konawe District, around 150 km from Kendari, the provincial capital.

Mamoon Othan, Al-Dahra manager, said his company needed around 100,000 hectares of land in Indonesia, including 30,000 hectares in North Sulawesi.
