BAKRIE TELECOM'S SUBSCRIBERS NOW EIGHT MILLION

Jambi, May 4 (ANTARA)- Up to the first quarter, or end of March 2009, Bakrie Telecom's subscribers reached eight million, up 78.8 percent from last year's same period with 4.5 million subscribers.

President Director of PT Bakrie Telecom Tbk. Anindya N. Bakrie disclosed here Sunday the increase in the number of subscribers was also coupled with the company's improved financial performance.

By the end of last year, the number of subscribers of the telecommunications enterprise had reached 7.3 million, which is financially also an imporvement, as the company's gross income increased 38 percent of the Rp591.6 billion in last year's first quarter to Rp816.1 billion in this year's first quarter.

Likewise the company's net income increased 49 percent from Rp441.8 billion in last year's first quarter to Rp658.2 billion in this year's same period.

The company's business profit increased 36,5 percent to Rp73 billion in this year's first quarter from Rp53.5 billion in last year's same period. ***2***
