LOAN FOR 10,000 MW PROJECT RP38.1 TRILLION SHORT

Jakarta, May 4 (ANTARA) - State power company PT PLN said the loan for the first stage 10,000 megawatts (MW) project crash program was still Rp 38.1 trillion short.

PLN's deputy president director Rudiantara said in Jakarta Monday the loan included 5.8 billion US dollars for transmission lines, the equivalent of Rp63.8 trillion (exchange rate Rp11.000 per US dollar) and Rp32,4 trillion.

"Of the needed loan, 3.2 billion US dollars and Rp22.9 trillion had been signed," he said, adding that therefore the 10,000 MW project is still short of 2.6 billion US dollars and Rp9,5 trillion.

He said, of the shortage, 900 million US dollars and Rp4.9 trillion, are now still under negotiations.

"Thus, we are still seeking for another loan of 1.7 billion US dollars and Rp4.6 trillion," he said.

PLN on Monday, PLN signed a loan for three 10.000 MW projects worth 1.06 billion US dollars with a China Exim Bank amounting to 606 million US dollars, and with Bank of China 455 million US dollars in Bali.

The three projects are coal-fired power palnts PLTU Pelabuhan Ratu, in West Java, capacity 3x350 MW worth 482 million US dollars with China Exim Bank, PLTU Teluk Naga, Banten, 3x315 MW, worth 455 million US dollars with Bank of China, and PLTU Meulaboh, Aceh, 124 million US dollars, with China Exim Bank.

The loans are payable in 13-15 years with a grace period of three years.

Previously, PLN had also signed a loan for PLTU Pelabuhan Ratu worth Rp1.874 trillion with Bank Mega, PLTU Meulaboh Rp614 billion with a consortium of regional development banks, and PLTU Teluk Naga Rp1.607 trillion with Bank Bukopin.
