GOVT SUGGESTED NOT TO ISSUE GLOBAL BONDS AS YET
Jakarta, May 5 (ANTARA) - The government had been reminded not to too hastily issue global bonds as so many foreign investors have entered Indonesia.
"I suggest that for the time being the government does not issue global bonds," economic affairs analyst A. Tony Prasetiantono said in Jakarta Tuesday.
He said foreign investors are now looking at Indonesia as a country safe for doing business, especially that Indonesia has many first-rate products like minerals and plantation produce.
The appreciation of the rupiah against the US dollar, he said, was an indication that the Indonesian economy has been improving.
"Since it is possible the rupiah would near its psychological barrier of Rp10,000 per US dollar, I suggest the government for the time being not to issue global bonds," Tony said.
