RI, FRANCE TO ORGANIZE EXPO OF INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTS
Jakarta, May 5 (ANTARA) - Indonesia and France are planning to organize a joint exhibition of handicraft and industrial products as part of efforts to enhance bilateral relations in the face of the global financial crisis, an envoy said.
"The global financial crisis is not an excuse to reduce Indonesia-France relations," French Ambassador to Indonesia Philippe Zeller said at a discussion with journalists and businessmen here on Tuesday.
Zeller said the chambers of commerce and industries of the two countries as the initiators of the event were making preparations to get the expo realized in Paris, Lyon and Marseille by 2010.
Although no exact date had been set for the event, the embassy had made preliminary preparations for the event by visiting the Balikpapan branch of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and establishing cooperation with the Bantul district administration, he said.
"The best way of making preparations for the event is cooperating with the branches of the chamber in each province," he said.
The expo's organizers have set themselves a target of displaying 200 different handicraft and industrial products in the event.
The discussion was jointly organized by the Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI), the Confederation of ASEAN Journalists (CAJ) and the Communications and Information Ministry.
