Information Ministry: Papers harming national unity will be halted
SANA'A, May 05 (Saba) - All newspapers harming the national unity
will be halted, Undersecretary of Information Ministry Mohammed
Shaher has been quoted as saying by the state-run 26Sep.net.
Shaher called on the official, partial, private and independent
national media to take its national responsibility and not to
prejudice the national and religious constants.
The Ministry will take strict measures against any media outlet,
regardless of its kind or its working nature, breaches the
Journalism Law and publications according to the law, said Shaher.
He indicated that the freedom of journalism should be practiced with
a high feeling of responsibility and care for the national issues
and taking in consideration the supreme interest of the country.
The unity should not, at any case, be subjected to the narrow
political and partial bargains, as the Yemen's unity is the
conclusion of Yemeni people through centuries and there is no
security, nor stability for Yemen without the unity, Shaher added.
Some press sources reported that Yemen has suspended seven
publications in effort to stifle reporting on an unprecedented wave
of deadly rioting sweeping the south.
