RI-MALAYSIA CCA MEETING TO BE HELD IN NTB
Mataram, May 6 (ANTARA) - West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) province will host a Consultative Committee on Agriculture (CCA) Meeting between Indonesia and Malaysia on May 7-8.
The meeting would be held in the Senggigi tourist resort, West Lombok District, NTB, Pending Dadih Permana, head of the NTB agricultural office said here on Tuesday.
The meeting would be attended by among others senior advisers of the two countries' agriculture ministries, he said.
Indonesia and Malaysia signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on agricultural cooperation on the sidelines of the D8 agriculture ministers' meeting in Kuala Lumpur in February 2009.
NTB was selected to be the venue of the CCA meeting because the province was a potential area for the development of agricultural commodities such as paddy, and corns, as well as cattle breeding farming, which have been target products of the Indonesian-Malaysian cooperation, he said.
Last May 3-5, a Consultative Committee on Agriculture (CCA) Meeting between Indonesia and Brazil was held also at Senggigi, West Lombok, NTB.
The Brazilian delegation was led by Lino Colsera, a senior official at the Brazilian agriculture ministry.
The Indonesian delegation to the Third CCA Meeting was headed by Yusni Emilia Harahap, an senior adviser to the agriculture minister. Harahap accompanied the Brazilian delegation in the visit to the agricultural areas.
TO conclude the meeting, the Brazilian delegation visited agricultural development areas in West Lombok and Central Lombok Districts last Tuesday.
In the CCA meeting, the Brazilian and Indonesian delegations agreed to intensify cooperation in the agricultural field, especially in the development of agricultural commodities such as soybean, oilpalm, and tropical fruits, as well as in cattle breeding, and bio-energy.
Both parties also agreed to finalize a draft memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Brazilian agricultural research institution and the Indonesian agriculture ministry.
