PRESIDENT DISCUSSES DEVELOPMENTS IN SEVERAL SECTORS WITH MINISTERS
Jakarta, May 6 (ANTARA) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono chaired a meeting here on Wednesday with a number of ministers to discuss developments in several sectors.
During the meeting which started at 1 p.m. at the presidential office, the president discussed the latest developments in security, economy, food resilience, and preparations for the World Ocean Conference (WOC) in Manado with related ministers.
"In the economic realm, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) meeting and ASEAN+3 Financial Ministerial Meeting were held successfully. Hopefully it will be of great advantage to our country and have a positive impact on our national economy at present and in the future," President Yudhoyono said at the meeting.
In the food sector, the president discussed this year's planting season which was expected to run well.
"The planting season this year is good enough if it continues to be the same, our hope to have rice surplus can be achieved and at the same time we can improve our food resilience," the president said.
In the security sector, the president asked for a report on the latest developments in Papua.
"Although I continue to monitor the situation in Papua, I need reports about the latest situation there," the president said, adding that he continued to monitor the reports or complaints sent to him by short text messages.
The head of state said the short text messages he had received were mostly about problems in the education, health, and manpower fields.
"Please report to me what we have done so far," the president said at the meeting which was attended by Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Sri Mulyani Indrawati, Coordinating Minister for People's Welfare Aburizal Bakrie, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Widodo AS, Trade Minister Mari Elka Pangestu, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro, Agriculture Minister Anton Apriantono, Minister/State Secretary Hatta Radjasa, and Cabinet Secretary Sudi Silalahi.***
