AZERBAIJAN MAKES ‘RATHER SERIOUS STEPS’ TOWARDS NATO INTEGRATION
Baku, May 6 (AzerTAc). For its short history of independence, Azerbaijan has been making rather serious steps towards integrating into NATO institutions, said the organization`s Senior Civilian Representative for Afghanistan Hikmet Cetin.
Speaking to journalists here, he also touched upon Turkey`s contribution, saying the country “has been playing key role in bringing Azerbaijan`s armed forces in line with the NATO standards”.
“I believe this cooperation will be continued,” he added.
Cetin also hailed Azerbaijan`s contribution to ensuring the world security.
“The country is actively involved in peacemaking operations in Afghanistan. I witnessed how bravely Azerbaijani soldiers safeguarded social objects in Afghanistan together with their Turkish counterparts”.
“I hope Azerbaijan`s successes will allow the country to become a full member of NATO,” said Cetin.
