FOUR COMPANIES COMPETING TO BUY STAKE IN ELNUSA

Jakarta, May 6 (ANTARA) - State-owned oil company Pertamina and three foreign companies are competing to buy PT Tri Daya Esta's 37.5-percent stake in PT Elnusa Tbk.

"The three companies besides Pertamina are Northstar Pacific (US), Petronas (Malaysia) and Nippon Oil Corp (Japan)," a source told ANTARA here on Wednesday.

Met at a state-owned companies' Executive Club meeting at the Bulog Building here, the source said the four companies were currently still conducting negotiations.

Tridaya had earlier said it planned to sell all its shares in Elnusa worth US$92 million or Rp315 per share.

Other companies holding Elnusa shares are Pertamina (41.1 percent), PT Danareksa Daiwa NIF Ventures (1.17 pct), PT Danareksa (0.39 pct), Elnusa employees (0.12 pct), Elnusa Retiree Foundation (0.05 pct) and the public (31.75 pct).

PT Pertamina meanwhile has said it has appointed PT Danareksa Sekuritas to be its investment advisor in connection with its purchase plan.

"We have been appointed by Pertamina as a bidder in the transaction," director of Danareksa Sekuritas, Alloysius K. Ro. said.

He however did not tell how much Pertamina had allocated for buying the shares of PT Tridaya, an exploration service company. he only said his side was still conducting consultation with Bapepam-LK (Capital Market and Financial Institution Supervisory Agency) in connection with Pertamina as a controlling shareholder in Elnusa.

To handle legal aspects of the purchase Pertamina meanwhile has appointed consultant Remy Syahdeni.

Said Didu, the secretary of the office of the state enterprise minister, meanwhile said his office supported Pertamina's efforts to increase its shares in Elnusa. Pertamina needs Elnusa as a gas and oil service company operating in the downstream sector, he said. ***
