Saleh praises GCC states' supportive position to Yemen

SANA'A, May 06 (Saba) - President Ali Abdullah Saleh praised here on Wednesday the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries' supporting position towards Yemen to maintain its security, stability and unity.

During the concluding ceremony of the second round of the 7th conference of the
General People Congress (GPC), President Saleh highly valued the statements of the
GCC's General Secretary in the GCC recent summit on standing by Yemen and its unity.

Saleh also highly appreciated the GCC states' support through their pledges they
committed in the London Donor Conference in 2006, and their obligations to pay those
amounts to contribute to the development process in the country.

"I asked King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz to absorb the Yemeni labour in the Gulf market
and he promised me to discuss that in the GCC and that what happened indeed", said
Saleh.

President Saleh reaffirmed that the dialogue is the best way to solve all issues,
saying that the political leadership would work on using dialogue instead of force
with all good political forces which believe in Yemen's security, stability and
unity.

He urged the journalists to avoid rising up the hatred culture among the nation's
people.

"If there is a space to speak in the press, you have to spread cordiality and
brotherhood and if there is any mistakes in the development, security and judgment,
you can criticize them and there is no objection", Saleh said addressing
journalists.

He added that the unity, liberty, democracy, revolution, republic and constitution
are national constants and must not be harmed.

"We seek for reducing the centralization and giving wider jurisdictions to the local
authorities but unfortunately some officials try to transfer all issues to the
central authority," Saleh said.

The President attributed any official transfer issues from governorates to the
central authority as a failed official.

At the end of his speech, President Saleh announced ending the second round of the
7th conference of GPC.

About 6,300 leaders from different GPC's regulatory frameworks and its branches in
the capital Sana'a and all other governorates have participated in this conference.
