CANADIAN CONSULTANT HELPS MONITOR ENVIRONMENTAL ANALYSES

Jakarta, May 6 (ANTARA) - A Canadian environmental consultancy company PT Hatfield Indonesia provided assistance in controlling environmental impact control in the oil and gas sector in Indonesia.

"The result of a survey that we had conducted may serve as a consideration for the regional administration in the issuance of an oil and gas exploration license," business development manager of PT Hatfield Ruri Iskandar said in Jakarta Wednesday.

The company, Ruri said, focused its operations on monitoring the balance of ecosystem relating to oil and gas explorations in Indonesia.

Several big oil and gas companies like PT Caltex Pacific Indonesia, Mobil Oil Indonesia, and Premier Oil Natuna Sea BV are now already under supervision of PT Hatfield.

Damage caused by explorations of natural resources has resulted in global warming. Therefore PT Hetfield has issued early warnings by conducting intensive research, Ruri said.

The international conference on climate change (UNFCCC) said that the use of fossil fuel including natural oil and coal to produce energy, is the main cause of global warming.

The supervision by PT Hatfield covers mines, forests, oil and gas, marine resources, waters, international organizations and governments, Ruri said.
