PERTAMINA EP SIGNS CONTRACTS FOR DOMESTIC GAS SUPPLY

Jakarta, May 6 (ANTARA) - Pertamina EP has signed four contracts on the sale of 12.68 trillion British thermal units of gas worth 675 million dollars to the domestic market.

The signing of the contracts was witnessed by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and conducted during the convention of the Indonesian Petroleum Association (IPA) on Tuesday.

President Director of Pertamina EP Salis Aprilian said that the sales-purchase contracts for the supply of gas to the domestic market was an indication of Pertamina EP's dominant role as a big gas producer for the domestic market.

"The signing of the contracts confirm our domination of gas for domestic market supply in the country," the Pertamina EP president director said.

Pertamina EP's gas production reached 1,057 million cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) and supplied to domestic market.

Of the total production, 28 percent is distributed to state-owned gas distributor PT PGN, 22 percent to industries, 18 percent to fertilizer producers, 18 percent to power plants and 14 percent to refineries, while the remaining ones were to meet its own needs.

The four signatories of the contracts were state-owned oil and gas PT Pertamina for Balongan refinery, Pertamina EP with Pertamina for the pumping of gas from the main Balongan terminal to the Plumpang depot, Pertamina EP with Pertamina for Pangkalan Brandan gas refinery in North Sumatra, and Pertamina EP and PT Pertiwin Nusantara Resources for industrial need in North Sumatra.***2***
