FIFTEEN COUNTRIES INVITED TO INVEST IN TOURISM
Jakarta, May 6 (ANTARA) - Indonesia has invited 15 countries to participate in the tourism, trade and investment (TTI) exhibition offering Borobudur Temple as a main touristm object.
"The exhibition is packaged in the form of tourism, trade and investment as part of the Visit Indonesia Year 2009 program," Tourism and Culture Minister Jero Wacik said here on Wednesday.
The TTI exhibition will be held in concurrence with the Borobudur International Festival 2009 as it will be part of the event on July 16-20, 2009.
The event would be themed "Presenting a World Wonder" and was expected to be able to attract more foreign investors to invest in Borobudur tourism.
"The activity is expected to be able to highlight cultural and tourism in Indonesia," the minister said.
According to plans the exhibition event will also be used as a forum of meeting between buyers from 15 foreign countries and sellers from 32 provinces in the country.
Sellers are expected to offer various tourism packages including the Borobudur Tourism Package.
The 15 countries to be invited to the event are Cambodia, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Myanmar, China, Queensland, South Korea, Germany, Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, the US, Belgium and India.
The minister hoped through the event more visitors would come to the country and lengthen their stay.
In 2007 299,443 foreign tourists visited Borobudur in addition to 1.68 million local tourists. Most visitors to the temple took the Borobudur-Prambanan-Yogyakarta Palace-Dieng Tourism Package.
