MEDCO ENERGI DENIES IT WANTS TO SELL INTEREST IN LIBYA
Jakarta, May 6 (ANTARA) - PT Medco Energi International's board of directors announced on Wednesday that the company had no intention or plan to sell its participating interest in Area 47, the company's oil and gas concession in Libya.
The announcement was made to clarify news reports or rumors discriminated by online media on Tuesday that were misleading the public , a release from MedcoEnergi made available to Antara here on Wednesday said.
The board of directors of MedcoEnergy said the company intended to continue its commitment to complete and undertake development of its interest in Asea 47. Currently, the company had set aside resources to develop its oil and gas discoveries in Area 47.
The clarification was made to counter the misleading information that could impact the decisions of shareholders or stakeholders on making investment in or providing any potential opportunities to the company.
MedcoEnergi is an integrated publicly listed energy company in Indonesia with businesses in upstream oil and gas, power generation and oil and gas related downstream activity.
Its current operation areas are located in Indonesia, Cambodia, Oman, Yemen, Libya, Tunis and the US.
MedcoEnergi holds 50 percent working interests in Area 47, Ghadames Basin, Libya with its partner, Verenext, a Canada-based international oil and gas exploration and production company which is also an operator of area 47.
