Sales of imported cars in S. Korea drop 22.5 pct in April

SEOUL, May 7 (Yonhap) -- Sales of imported cars in South Korea dropped 22.5
percent from a year ago to 4,769 units in April, hit by an economic slump,
industry data showed Thursday.
April sales increased 1.3 percent from March however, the Korea Automobile
Importers and Distributors Association said in a statement.
In the first four months of this year, sales of imported automobiles also
declined 22.5 percent to 16,903 units, it said.
Last month, Germany's BMW AG was the most popular foreign car brand in South
Korea with 939 vehicles sold, followed by Mercedes-Benz with 761 units and
Volkswagen AG with 656.
