S. Korea donates medical supplies to Egypt
CAIRO, May 7 (Yonhap) -- A group of South Korean lawmakers held a ceremony in
Cairo on Thursday, along with Egyptian health officials, to deliver medical
supplies to the northern African country as part of Seoul's efforts to enhance
its relations with the continent.
The four-member delegation, led by Chin Young from South Korea's ruling Grand
National Party, delivered the 33 kinds of medical supplies to Egyptian Health and
Population Minister Hatem Mostafa Mostafa El-Gabaly.
During the ceremony, the two sides agreed to further exchanges and cooperation
between South Korea and Egypt.
The lawmakers are also scheduled to travel to Kenya on next Monday and Tanzania
on next Thursday to deliver medical supplies that include medicines to treat
malaria and antibiotics, provided by 40 South Korean pharmaceutical firms.
The companies have donated a total of 90 kinds of medical supplies worth 300
million won (US$237,717) to the lawmakers' mission.
