‘Shambala’ film of Kyrgyzstani Artyk Suyundukov wins Nika Award

Bishkek, April 26, 2021 . / Kabar / . The Shambala film was awarded the Nika Award, winning in the category "The Best Film of the CIS and Baltic countries”. The awards ceremony was held on April 25, 2021 in Moscow, the National Film Studio “Kyrgyz Film” said on Monday.
The film is directed by Kyrgyzstani Artyk Suyundukov.
The Nika Award is the main annual national film award in Russia presented by the Russian Academy of Cinema Arts and Science. The Russian Academy Award takes its name from Nike, the goddess of victory. Accordingly, the prize is modelled after the sculpture of the Winged Victory of Samothrace.
The film, based on the story of Chyngyz Aitmatov “The White Ship”, was shot in 2020.
The world premiere took place at Shanghai International Film Festival in July 2020. The work of Artyk Suyundukov is the winner of the festivals "Moscow Premiere", "Kinoshock" and the IFF in Calcutta. It continues to participate in international film festivals.
