MANULIFE`S PROFIT DOWN 44 PCT
Jakarta, May 8 (ANTARA) - Life insurance company PT Manulife Financial Indonesia's net profit in 2008 fell 44.2 percent to Rp160.1 billion from Rp287 billion a year ago.
Total income rose to Rp3.2 trillion from Rp3.1 trillion but operating expenses jumped to Rp2.8 trillion from Rp2.3 trillion, leading to a drop in net profit, according to the company's financial statement made available on Friday.
"Although the 2008 financial statement showed a decline in net profit, premiums last year increased," the company's communication manager, Priska Rosalina, said.
Manulife now has an estimated 1 million customers across the country.***
