WEST SUMATRA PEOPLE'S HEALTH QUALITY IMPROVES
Padang, W Sumatra, May 8 (ANTARA) - The health quality of West Sumatra's people in the last two years has improved which is proof of success of the province's macro health development, the West Sumatra governor said.
This success was reached in the immunization drive in the villages, reaching 90.2 percent in 2008, compared with 88.9 percent in 2007, Governor Gamawan Fauzi said here on Friday.
In addition, the number of families which had adopted a healty living attitude also rose from 44.8 percent in 2007 to 58 percent in 2008, he cited, adding that the number of malnourished infants has also declined from 12.8 percent in 2007 to 11.6 percent in 2008.
In addition, the frequency of people visiting health service centers also increased from 2.2 times a week in 2007 to 2.81 times in 2008.
The governor said further that the number of state and private hospitals in this province rose from 35.18 percent in 2007 to 37.03 percent in 2008. ***3***
