Cybersecurity Malaysia Organises Training Involving Asean, OIC-CERT Participants

KUALA LUMPUR, June 23 (Bernama) -- CyberSecurity Malaysia has once again organised a cybersecurity training course conducted online under the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP). In a statement Tuesday, CyberSecurity Malaysia said the ongoing course, which will end on June 30, is the sixth cybersecurity training conducted under MTCP focusing on participants from the ASEAN and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation – Computer Emergency Response Team (OIC-CERT) member countries. It said the eight-day certification course entitled “Certified Penetration Tester” is part of the government’s commitment to continue supporting capacity enhancement for developing countries through the sharing of development experiences and expertise by providing various human capacity building programmes and technical assistance. Its chief executive officer Dr Amirudin Abdul Wahab said 12 IT officers and professionals from five ASEAN and OIC-CERT countries namely Bangladesh, Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam were participating in the training. “However, this is the first time the training is conducted using an online platform due to COVID-19 pandemic. This shows Malaysia’s commitment in leading the capacity building initiatives for the ASEAN and OIC-CERT member countries,” he said. According to the statement, the course leveraged state-of-the-art cybersecurity knowledge and capabilities from domain experts and experienced practitioners, in line with the MTCP objectives to share Malaysia’s development experience. On top of that, it focuses on enabling the participants' ability to handle the vulnerability assessment and penetration test for their customers as well as teaching ways to harden the corporate digital networks and systems to boost security. -- BERNAMA
