Fisheries ministry, UNDP discuss supporting fisheries sector
SANA'A, May 13 (Saba) - Minister of Fisheries Mohammad Shamlan
discussed here on Wednesday with the programs director of the United
Nations Development Program (UNDP) Fuad Abdullah the projects that
will be funded by the program in the field of fisheries sector.
The projects, estimated at $3,300,000 include support for fisheries
network information project, databases in the coastal areas,
supporting the implementation of comprehensive studies to determine
better locations for fish farming and others.
At the meeting, the Minister praised the Programs' support for the
fisheries sector in Yemen in all fields, affirming the importance of
enhancing further cooperation between the Ministry and the Program
in developing fisheries sector.
Meanwhile the general director of the Fisheries Information Center
Jamal Raja pointed out the goals the Center is to link all offices,
institutions and fish landings centers in the Fisheries Ministry
through an extensive network.
The database will be established in 122 landing centers in order to
transfer data of the fisheries quantities which will contribute to
reducing revenues manipulation.
