Khalid bin Hamad crowns Saudi Arabia as GCC volleyball champions

Manama, Sept. 1 (BNA): HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of the General Sports Authority and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee has crowned Saudis as the champions of the 6th GCC Junior Championship. The Saudi team narrowly beat Bahrain 3/2 (17/25, 25/23, 25/20, 31/33, 19/17) in the finals at Bahrain Volleyball Association Hall in the late Shaikh Isa bin Rashid Al Khalifa Sports Compound, Isa Sports City. HH Shaikh Khalid expressed satisfaction with the levels of the two finalists and congratulated the winners while praising the performance of the Bahrain team during the championship. HH valued the great efforts exerted by the Bahrain Volleyball Association under the presidency of Shaikh Ali bin Mohammed Al Khalifa in hosting the event in collaboration with the Organising Committee in the GCC, adding that such efforts were crucial to making the event a tremendous success that contributed to cementing the bonds among the GCC countries.
