Baku, May 19 (AzerTAc). Members of Azerbaijan-Hungary interparliamentary friendship group met Tuesday with Chairman of the Hungarian Palriament`s Committee for European Affairs Matyas Eorsi.
Head of the group Khanhuseyn Kazimli told of the friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Hungary.
Kazimli said President Ilham Aliyev`s visit to Hungary in 2008 contributed to boosting bilateral relationship.
According to him, following a visit by Hungarian Parliament`s speaker to Azerbaijan last year, a new period started in inter-parliamentary ties.
Khanhuseyn Kazimli also briefed Matyas Eorsi on the ongoing social and economic reforms in the country and the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh.
He highly valued the fact that Matyas Eorsi put forward his candidacy for the PACE Presidency.
Matyas Eorsi said his current visit to Azerbaijan aims to closely study the country`s stance on the EU`s Eastern Partnership program and conduct consultations.
He hailed the ongoing legal and democratic reforms in Azerbaijan.
“Azerbaijan is developing very rapidly. We believe that the country will get a full membership of the European family in the immediate future”, he noted.
Eorsi pointed out no matter he will be elected PACE President or not, he will always support Azerbaijan`s fair stance.
Parties also exchanged views on the importance of the Eastern Partnership program, settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, prospects for relations between Azerbaijan and Hungary and other issues.
