Dongkuk Steel cuts steel plate prices

SEOUL, May 20 (Yonhap) -- Dongkuk Steel Mill Co., South Korea's third-largest steelmaker, said Wednesday that it has cut steel-plate prices to reflect declines in global commodity prices and weak demand

Dongkuk cut the price of ship plates to 820,000 won (US$654) from 920,000 won per ton, the company said in a statement.
The company also cut the price of other steel plates by 160,000 won to 820,000
won, it said.
Last week, its domestic rival POSCO slashed prices by up to 20 percent for all
its steel products to reflect falls in the cost of raw materials.
Shares of Dongkuk Steel were trading at 34,150 won on the Seoul bourse as of
11:10 a.m., down 1.15 percent.
