Foreign Minister receives IISS Director General

Manama, Nov. 23 (BNA): Minister of Foreign Affairs, HE Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, received in his office at the ministry today, Director General and Chief Executive of the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), Dr. John Chipman. During the meeting, the minister welcomed Dr. John Chipman, commending the relentless efforts undertaken by IISS, in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in preparing and organizing the 17th Manama Dialogue that witnessed high-level participation. He also praised Dr. John Chipman’s prominent role in professionally moderating the sessions and topics, appreciating the IISS team’s efforts. He further expressed his pride and appreciation for the great success of the summit this year, stressing the importance of continuing bilateral cooperation to achieve common goals. For his part, Dr. John Chipman valued the effective cooperation and coordination between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and IISS, and the tangible support received by the summit and its guests from the wise leadership, the esteemed government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He further commended the cooperation and joint coordination between the ministry and the institute, especially during the preparation period for Manama Dialogue, noting his satisfaction with how flexible and smooth the procedures were and the attention and hospitality received by the participating delegations. The meeting was attended by the Executive Director of IISS–Middle East, Sir Tom Beckett, the Director General of Ministry Affairs, Talal Abdulsalam Al-Ansari, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Chief of Strategic Affairs, Nancy Abdulla Jamal and the ministry’s Acting Chief of Protocol, Salah Mohammed Shehab.
