WFP might increase support to school feeding programme



SANA'A, May 20 (Saba) - United Nation World Food Program (WFP)
affirmed here on Wednesday the possibility of increasing support to
school feeding programme for poor families' students.

Minister of Education Abdul-Salam al-Jawfi discussed with WFP's
Regional Director for the Middle East, Central Asia and Eastern
Europe Daly Belgasmi the activities implemented by feeding programme
in Yemeni schools.

The meeting also dealt with the difficulties encountered in the food
distribution process in the light of the increase of needy families'
students.

The two officials affirmed importance of strengthening cooperation,
particularly regarding the agreement signed between the Program and
the Ministry on distributing food to poor families in a number of
governorates that are targeted by the program.

The Minister praised the feeding programme's role in encouraging the
enrolment of students in basic education, especially girls.
