Al-Arhabi meets UN's international mission

SANA'A, May 20 (Saba) - Minister of Planning and International
Cooperation Abdul Karim al-Arhabi met here on Wednesday with the
UN's international mission in charge of preparing the new phase of
execution of local authority support program.

The mission briefed the Minister on the details related to the new
phase of carrying out the program through presenting the
institutional support and capacities' building at the central and
local levels.

Minister al-Arhabi affirmed the significance of availing from the
outside support in implementing the national strategy for enhancing
the local authority in accordance with the government's trends to
strengthen the decentralization.

Al-Arhabi pointed to Yemen's keenness on rooting the culture of
decentralization as a part of the Yemeni democratic experience,
which is appreciated at the regional and international levels.

The coming phase will witness practical achievements via
strengthening the local councils' authorities to contribute to
perform their vital roles in the local societies development,
al-Arhabi indicated.
