POSCO completes 3rd auto steel processing plant in Japan
SEOUL, May 21 (Yonhap) -- POSCO, South Korea's leading steelmaker, said Thursday
that it has dedicated a plant in Japan that processes steel used in automobile
production.
The factory, named POSCO-Japan Kyushu Processing Center, has an annual processing
capacity of 150,000 metric tons, according to the world's fourth-largest
steelmaker.
The plant, POSCO's third automotive steel processing factory, will supply steel
to Japanese automakers such as Toyota Motor Corp.
In April, POSCO also completed building two steel-processing plants in India and
Thailand to meet rising demand from automakers and electronic companies there.
With the plant in Japan, POSCO now has 37 steel processing centers in 12 countries.
Shares of POSCO were trading at 408,500 won on the Seoul bourse as of 1:40 p.m.,
down 2.62 percent.
