Samsung Techwin signs deal with U.S. firm

SEOUL, May 21 (Yonhap) -- Samsung Techwin Co., a South Korean manufacturer of
precision electronics parts, said Thursday it has signed a deal with a U.S.
company on technical support for energy production equipment.
Under the deal clinched with Dresser-Rand Co., Samsung Techwin will now be able
to provide equipment such as gas compressor units for production of crude and
natural gas at sea to South Korean shipbuilders, the company said in a regulatory
filing.
The company also plans to supply production equipment to chemical plants in the
near future.
Last November, Samsung Techwin spun off its camera division to boost its
competitive edge in both the camera and precision electronics parts markets.
