SK Telecom mulls buying credit card unit from Hana Financial

SEOUL, May 22 (Yonhap) -- SK Telecom Co., South Korea's top wireless carrier,
said Friday it is considering the acquisition of a stake in the credit card unit
of Hana Financial Group Inc., to beef up its financial business.
"SK Telecom is examining various options, including buying a stake in the card
unit of Hana Financial, but nothing has been decided yet," the mobile telephone
company said in a regulatory filing.
Hana Financial Group, South Korea's fourth-largest financial holding company,
said April 24 it plans to spin off its card business from its banking unit.
The parent firm for Hana Bank said in a filing that no decision has been made
regarding the deal with SK Telecom.
