BAKU-BATUMI-BAKU FLIGHT OPENED
Baku, May 22 (AzerTAc). President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili became the first Baku-Batumi-Baku flight passenger. At the Heydar Aliyev International Airport, Georgian President was presented with the first ticket and a certificate.
In an interview given during the flight President of Georgia said the flight will open up good opportunities for reciprocal flights of citizens of both countries
“Yesterday and today, I saw how intensively Baku is developing. The same work is being done here in Batumi. Anyone who will travel from Baku to Ajaria he will feel like he has never traveled anywhere,” said Saakashvili.
Georgian President said Georgia is interested in importing electricity from Azerbaijan. He stressed the need to launch new projects to expand ties between the two countries.
At the international airport of Batumi, President of Georgia Saakashvili was welcomed here by Chairman of the Ajaria Autonomous Republic Levan Varshalomidze and other officials.
Passengers included Georgian Minister of Economic Development Lasha Zhvania, Minister of Transport of Azerbaijan Ziya Mammadov, President of AZAL Jahangir Askerov and MP Ganira Pashayeva
French-made liners ATR-72-500 will fly en route Baku-Batumi-Baku.
The ceremony was continued with a concert in the Batumi boulevard.
