SCW Secretary General holds meeting with UNGA President

Manama, Jan. 25 (BNA): Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW) Hala Al-Ansari has affirmed the council’s keenness, under the presidency of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Consort of His Majesty the King, to boost cooperation with the United Nations in all issues related to women.
Al-Ansari was speaking during a meeting with President of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA) Abdullah Shahid who is on a visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain to get informed about its main achievements. She underlined keenness of the Supreme Council for Women to build on the positive outcome of its cooperation with the UN.
The UNGA President underscored keenness on enhancing cooperation between the UN and the Kingdom of Bahrain regarding issues related to women and providing support to the Princess Sabeeka Bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa Global Award for Women's Empowerment. He praised Bahrain’s women empowerment experience, voicing confidence in the ability of Bahraini women to maximise their achievements. He also lauded the big role played by Bahraini women in handling COVID-19 pandemic and their successful presence and contribution at the international level.
The SCW Assistant Secretary General, Shaikha Dina bint Rashid Al Khalifa, highlighted through a visual presentation the main work mechanisms of SCW, including the national empowerment plan (2013-2022) and the national model for gender balance. She also cast light on the council’s main accomplishments since its establishment in 2001.
