Bahrain Ambassador to Belgium meets BECI Chief

Brussels, Feb. 5 (BNA): Bahrain’s Ambassador to Belgium Abdulla bin Faisal bin Jabur Al-Doseri, met with the Chief Executive Officer of Brussels Enterprises Commerce, and Industry (BECI), Olivier Willocx, at BECI premises in Brussels. Al-Doseri lauded the economic cooperation and trade exchange between Bahrain and Belgium, reaffirming the importance of availing of investment opportunities in all fields, mainly trade, industry, real-estate, and banking, towards achieving joint development and trade objectives between both countries. He stressed the importance of joint cooperation between Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) and Brussels Enterprises Commerce and Industry (BECI), as the main pillar to explore potential investment opportunities and support the bilateral trade balance. He delivered an overview of Bahrain's Economic Recovery Plan, which aims to support economic wellbeing through investment opportunities worth 30 billion USD, though achieving 22 initiatives which include attracting foreign direct investments in oil, gas, tourism, and telecommunications, and supporting financial sustainability through investments in infrastructure, available via the newly launched invest.bh electronic platform by the Economic Development Board, which allows foreign investors to explore strategic investment opportunities. He highlighted Bahrain's attractive economic climate, where foreign investors can enjoy 100% ownership in most non-oil projects. He also mentioned Bahrain's role as a trade gateway to the gulf trade market worth 1.4 trillion USD. He noted Bahrain's ranking among the world's top 20 economies on the Greenfield Foreign Direct Investments Index in 2021, as well as the top GCC country on the Economic Freedom of the World index. Willocx thanked the ambassador for highlighting Bahrain's innovative and pioneering economic initiatives, lauding the Kingdom's attractive trade, economic, and industrial opportunities.
