Royal interest in promoting sports as a lifestyle highlighted

Manama, Feb. 9 (BNA): Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), Shaikh Duaij bin Salman Al Khalifa, has affirmed the growing importance of the Bahrain National Sports Day for all segments of the Bahraini society and its institutions, noting that the massive interest in the event stems from the unwavering interest of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the first athlete in the kingdom, in promoting sports as a culture and a lifestyle. Shaikh Duaij highlighted the tremendous efforts made by HM the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, for many years to make the Bahrain National Sports Day a national occasion and an opportunity to promote the concepts of sports and healthy life among various segments, affirming that HH Shaikh Nasser has succeeded in changing the lives of many people positively through promoting the values and principles of this Day. He also highlighted the major support provided by the First Deputy Chairman of the SCYS, General Sports Authority Chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee President, His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, for all sports sector institutions in order to ensure the success of the national event. Shaikh Duaij called on all public and private institutions and individuals to participate actively in the Bahrain National Sports Day.
