President presents Unification Title for Prince al-Walid
SANA'A, May 24 (Saba)- President Ali Abdullah Saleh presented on
Sunday a Title of Unification for Prince al-Walid bin Talal bin
Abdul Aziz for his humanitarian role in the country.
During his meeting with the prince in Sana'a, president Saleh
welcomed the prince and his accompanying delegation, highlighting
contribution of the prince to build housing units for the affected
people due to rockslide in al-Dhafir village of Sana'a governorate.
He also reviewed bilateral relations between Yemen and Saudi Arabia
and issues related to investment in Yemen.
President Saleh renewed welcome for Yemen for the Saudi investments
in the country especially investments of prince al-Walid, saying
that such investments would receive all care to serve the common
interests of both sides
The meeting was attended by vice president Abduh Raboh Mansor Hadi
and other top Yemeni officials.
SANA'A, Jan. 1 - Rescue and search teams have been working on
removing giant rocks and pulling out corpses covered by rubble in
the slide-affected village of Al-Dhafir since Thursday morning.
The death toll claimed by the avalanche that hit some of Al-Dhafir
village houses, reached 57, twenty-nine of whom are females and 28
males. Eight people out of around 98 victims beneath rubble were
pulled out alive on the first day of search, according to official
scores.
In December of 2005 rockslide caused an avalanche that destroyed
more than 23 houses of Al-Dhafir village in Bani Matar District, 42
km west of Sana'a.
