LMRA Chief Executive receives British Minister

Manama, Feb. 14 (BNA): The Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) has today received a high-level delegation led by Special Envoy of the UK Prime Minister and the Minister of State for South and Central Asia, United Nations, and the Commonwealth at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), Lord Tariq Ahmad of Wimbledon, The delegation visit the LMRA branch in Al Sehla, which houses the Expatriate Workers’ Protection Centre, the Regional Training and Competence Building Centre and the offices of the International Organisation for Migration and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). LMRA Chief Executive Officer Jamal Abdulaziz Al Alawi highlighted the vision and directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to protect human rights, combat human trafficking. He stressed historic cooperation between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United Kingdom, noting the drive of the Government, chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to strengthen relations with friendly countries. Lord Ahmad praised Bahrain’s strides in combating human trafficking and adopting the best practices in compliance with international standards to protect labour rights. He highlighted the efforts undertaken by LMRA and its partners to implement procedures and legislations to improve the work environment and protect expatriate workers, hailing the role of the authority in preserving the rights of workers and employers.
