Saudi billionaire to inaugurate homes at Yemeni rockslide-hit village

SANA'A May 24 (Saba) – Saudi billionaire prince Al-Waleed bin Talal
bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud has arrived in Yemen for a visit during which
he will inaugurate his group-funded resident complex for the people
who were affected by a 2006 rock-fall at the Al-Dhafeer villigae,
Bani Matar district, Sana'a.

Hearing about the tragedy, the prince announced his group would help
the affected and construct new homes for them. His efforts depicted
the deep-rooted relationship between Yemen and his kingdom and their
peoples.

The complex, implemented at SAR 23 million, contains 100 housing
units. Each housing project is 160 square meters, with two bedrooms,
a living room, a kitchen and a surrounding garden.

In recent years, several rock-falls occurred in Yemen but the
deadliest one was that flattened the al-Dhafeer village in Bani
Matar district west of Sana'a in 2006 claiming 100 lives and
crushing about 30 homes.

Later, a mountain in Mahweet province unleashed killing a women and
devastating nearby lands.
