HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad fulfills Smile Initiative heroes’ wishes

Manama, Feb. 15 (BNA): Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS) First Deputy Chairman, General Sports Authority (GSA) Chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) President, His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa reached out to children with cancer, who are affiliated with the Smile Initiative. He met the Smile Initiative heroes remotely via video-conference, as Bahrain joined today other countries in observing the International Childhood Cancer Day 2022, being marked this year under the theme “Better Survival”. HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa fulfilled the children’s wishes as he reached out to them virtually and offered them presents as part of his humanitarian initiatives. “You write heroic stories through your battle, inspire everyone, and spread happiness and optimism through your smile, innocence and laughter”, he said, encouraging the children to continue their fight and excel in their studies. HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad got reassured about the children’s social, family and health conditions and heard their stories and dreams, promising to meet them regularly and engage them in sports and community activities. Bahrain Future Youth Society Chairperson Sabah Al Zayani expressed thanks and gratitude to Shaikh Khalid for bringing joy to the children’s hearts in a touching move which will remain engraved in their memory. Smile Initiative, a Bahrain Future Society for Youth programme that provides psychosocial support to children with cancer and their parents in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Launched in 2012, the noble initiative won Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa Sustainable Development Project Award.
