Omani delegation praises Bahrain’s successful labour market experience

Manama, Feb. 21 (BNA): Labour Minister and Board of Directors Chairman of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA), Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, received here today an Omani delegation, led by the Director-General of the General Directorate of Vocational Training, Dr. Mohammed bin Mustafa Al-Najjar.
The delegation is currently on a visit to the kingdom to be informed about its experience in developing the labour market, employing nationals in the private sector and developing human resources, in addition to programmes to train the national workforce.
Humaidan reviewed the Labour and Social Development Ministry’s strategy to find job opportunities for national job-seekers in the private sector, as well as the incentives it provides for making Bahrainis the best option in employment. In this regard, he highlighted the support for the salaries of Bahraini workers, the provision of the necessary vocational training to make sure job seekers meet the requirements of the labour market, in addition to enhancing social protection for Bahrainis through the Insurance against Unemployment system.
The minister stressed the importance of enhancing cooperation, exchanging expertise and labour experiences, as well as developing human resources among the GCC countries, given the similarity of their labour markets, and Bahrain's pride in the opportunities that allow for the exchange of qualitative experiences in the labour market among GCC countries.
Al-Najjar praised the kingdom’s experience in developing the labour market as one of the successful and pioneering experiences in the GCC and the Arab world.
He indicated that the Omani delegation aims to collect first-hand information about Bahrain’s labour market and benefit from it, given the fact that the kingdom has made major strides in supporting and developing its national human resources, as well as in creating an attractive and stimulating work environment for the citizens to attract them to private companies and institutions.
The Omani delegation visited the employment service offices of the Labour Ministry, where it was briefed on the workflow, registration and employment programmes and the applicable regulations. It was also briefed on the services provided by the Training and Manpower Development Directorate, in addition to the qualification programmes for national cadres.
The Omani delegation visited a number of relevant entities, foremost of which are the Labour Market Regulatory Authority, the Information and e-Government Authority, the Labour Fund (Tamkeen), the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs, the Economic Development Board, the Education and Training Quality Authority, the Institute of Public Administration and the Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF).
