AZERBAIJANI FOREIGN MINISTER ADDRESSES 36TH ISLAMIC CONFERENCE OF FOREIGN MINISTERS

Baku, May 25 (AzerTAc). Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov participated in the 36th session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers, which started in Damascus on Saturday.
Elmar Mamamdyarov addressed the plenary session. He reported on Azerbaijan`s activity after the 35th session and important events held in the country. The Minister told of Azerbaijan`s stance on the Armenian aggression and its results.
On the sidelines of the session, Elmar Mammadyarov held a number of bilateral meetings.
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad addressed the opening ceremony.
Chairmanship of the Islamic Conference of Foreign Ministers was transferred from Uganda to Syria.
The agenda of the conference included 80 issues including three documents concerning Armenia`s aggression against Azerbaijan: resolution on Armenia`s aggression against Azerbaijan, resolution on providing economic assistance to Azerbaijan over Armenia`s aggression against Azerbaijan, resolution on destruction of Islamic cultural and historical monuments in Azerbaijan as a result of Armenia`s aggression against Azerbaijan.
OIC Secretary General E. Ihsanoglu reaffirmed OIC`s stance on Armenia`s aggression against Azerbaijan, saying organization strongly condemns the occupation of Azerbaijani lands and demands withdrawal of Armenian troops.
The conference will end on Monday with adoption of draft decisions and resolutions.
