Bahrain to mark Gulf Day for Healthy Cities on March 1

Manama, Feb. 28 (BNA): Bahrain will join other GCC member states to mark the Gulf Day for Healthy Cities, annually observed on March 1.
The GCC health ministers drew up a work strategy (2022-2026) to promote joint programmes and projects aimed to step up health cooperation and further healthy cities.
The GCC joint drive is also in line with the preventive programmes set by the World Health Organisation (WHO) to protect populations through sustainable urban development.
Supported by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Ministry of Health stepped up efforts to implement the healthy citizens programme countrywide.
Umm Al Hassam and Manama were designated as health cities in 2018 and 2021 respectively. A’ali is also expected to meet the requirements of a health city and join Umm Al Hassam and Manama.
